KnightGuard’s story
This one still messes with me because it started with something that felt harmless. I joined a random Discord server about a game I play and people were sharing mods and custom skins. I downloaded one that a bunch of others said worked fine. It did work, but after that my computer started acting weird, like my browser opening tabs by itself and my fans spinning up randomly. I didn’t think much of it until my friend messaged me asking why I’d sent him a weird link at 3am. Then another friend asked the same thing. Turns out my account was sending phishing links to everyone in my contacts and I had no idea. Later I found out the “mod” was malware and someone was basically using my PC as a spam machine. I felt gross knowing my name and account were being used to scam people I actually care about.
